GreenTrek - A Christian Call to Creation Care

A pilgrimage - by bicycle, horse, alternatively fueled vehicle; to discover and promote ecologically sound living practices.

GreenTrek is looking for people who are concerned about earth care. If you have time and energy to discover first hand how Christians are attempting to care for the earth, this is for you! You will need to have three days offree time, from August 23-25, 2008 and physical stamina to bike, ride a horse or drive an alternatively fuel-sourced vehicle.

During our time together, we will cover many kilometers as we visit alternate farming operations, a land fill site, a recycling depot, sacred sites like Christian churches and First Nations sites, participate in some food production activity, advocate for the earth to our governments, and learn more about attempts to be ecologically responsible. Come with your friends and come to make new ones.

Care for creation is a Christian responsibility. God's blessing to humans, who reflect God's nature, included "Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge! Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air, for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth." (The Message, Eugene Peterson)

Considering current trends, we need to stop destructive practices as we foster sustainable life-giving habits.
